Design Philosophies

Age 19 – decided to take my first long bike trip. Choose La Paz, the tip of Baja as a goal.  one problem was i only had no money for fixing my very old bike or buying panniers ( bike bags ).  My mother said she had an idea, and around midnight we walked to a small sewing factory and grabbed a large bag full of scraps out of the dumpster. it was perfect material, waterproof nylon canvas, only catch…   it was all in 10 cm wide strips.
